Who are The Ninety-Nine Cent Players?

We are a team of theatre lovers bringing performance and production opportunities to fellow theatre lovers in New Jersey.

We produce plays and musicals for NJ audiences with local performers, creatives, and musicians!

Whether we are putting on an original work or a beloved piece, we are driven by powerful stories and the impact that can be made on a community when those stories are brought to life. We are less concerned with all the bells and whistles—elaborate sets or costumes—and instead are more interested in directing the attention to the heart of a story.

Group of young people celebrating and having fun at a performance or party, some are laughing and dancing.

In 2019, a talented group of alumni from Bridgewater-Raritan High School decided to put on a summer production of Godspell—thus, The Ninety-Nine Cent Players were born!

Founded on a mixture of low-budget necessity and passionate, creative scrappiness, that production opened to local acclaim, and tickets quickly sold out.

After a pandemic pause, The Ninety-Nine Cent Players returned in the summer of 2023 with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, which played a sold-out run at the Martinsville Community Center, and the following year a run of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! at the Watchung Arts Center.

We look forward to bringing more theatre to NJ in our 2025 season!
